VANDENBERG SPACE FORCE BASE, Calif., June 15, 2026 /Christian Newswire/ — On June 12, 2026, the first Chief of Chaplains of the United States Space Force, Major General Steven A. Schaick, USAF (Ret.), formally endorsed Creator of the Universe as the recognized hymn for the Space Force community. This endorsement establishes a permanent musical anchor for the global Space Force community.
In a publicity statement, Major General Schaick wrote:
“Creator of the Universe brought a peace and deep joy to my heart through its level of reverence set against the backdrop of our Space Force. As the first Chief of Chaplains of the U.S. Space Force, I am especially grateful for this most reverent work.”
The United States Space Force (USSF) is the space operations service branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. Established on December 20, 2019, under the National Defense Authorization Act, it is the sixth and youngest military branch and the first created since the U.S. Air Force in 1947.
Operating under the Department of the Air Force, the USSF protects U.S. and allied interests in space while providing cutting-edge space capabilities to the joint force. Guided by the motto Semper Supra (“Always Above”), Guardian personnel secure the ultimate high ground with vigilance, honor, and specialized technical expertise.
Origin of the Space Force Hymn
On February 12, 2020, former Air Force Captain and Chaplain James F. Linzey felt deeply inspired to write a prayer for the nation’s newest military branch. Reflecting on his service under Air Force Space Command at what is now Vandenberg Space Force Base, he set his pen to paper the following morning. As the words flowed, a powerful melody filled his mind. Within ten days, on February 22, 2020, Chaplain Linzey completed Creator of the Universe, a reverent and timeless musical anchor for the men and women of the United States Space Force who serve beyond the skies.
Over the past six years, Creator of the Universe has received widespread media recognition as the United States Space Force Hymn. Publications including The Space Review (in association with SpaceNews), Christianity Today, Baptist Press, Charisma News, the Montgomery Independent, the Montgomery County Chronicle, Black Hills Pioneer, and The Times Examiner, along with Great Plains Christian Radio (KJIL) and K-LOVE, have featured the historic hymn.
Numerous commentators and military chaplains have celebrated its impact on the service’s emerging culture, including Chaplain (Colonel) Joel V. Miller, U.S. Army (Ret.), former Division Command Chaplain for the 76th Operational Response Command in Salt Lake City, Utah. “Chaplain Jim Linzey brought into focus God’s majesty and mercy through Creator of the Universe, the official Space Force Hymn,” said Miller.

Choral Arrangement and Production
The SATB choral arrangement of the United States Space Force Hymn, Creator of the Universe, has been professionally engraved and recorded by Dan Kreider and professional singers from Grace Immanuel Bible Church in Jupiter, Florida, where Kreider serves as Minister of Music. Kreider is the founder of Dan Kreider Music and Hymnworks. The original video by God’s Learning Channel Television Network features their professional recording.
Commander Manuel A. “Don” Biadog, Jr., CHC, USN (Ret.), who facilitates the communication of historical military hymnography, noted the far-reaching impact of the endorsement, “This sacred selection serves as a vital spiritual baseline for our service members. Ensuring that our modern Guardians have an official anthem that honors their unique mission across the skies is an essential milestone in building military tradition.”
