THE WHITE HOUSE – In a public address from the White House in the final hours of June 21, 2025, US President Donald Trump informed the nation that the United States had officially entered the Israeli-Iranian conflict initiated last week when Israel launched a preemptive strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities.
According to the President, “A short time ago, the US Military carried out massive precision strikes on the three key nuclear facilities in the Iranian regime – Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.” Those names have become well known over the years as they have “built this horribly destructive enterprise.” President Trump called Iran the number one state sponsor of terrorism, and indicated the goal of last night’s campaign was to eliminate Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and to stop the nuclear threat that nation poses.
President Trump called the strikes a “spectacular military success.” He then added, “Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated.” The President’s confident hope is that Iran will make peace. However, he was clear that if they do not, “…future attacks will be far greater and a lot easier.”
According to the White House, hundreds of thousands in the Middle East and around the world have been killed in the Iranian campaign of terror. Trump was emphatic as he stated, “I decided a long time ago that I would not let this happen. It will not continue!”
The President expressed pride in how the United States worked with Israel in this effort, saying, “We worked as a team as perhaps no team has ever worked before, and we have gone a long way toward erasing this horrible threat to Israel.” Trump praised both the US and Israeli military forces that carried out the strikes, and he hopes their services will no longer be needed in this capacity.
He was clear, however, “…this cannot continue. There will either be peace, or there will be tragedy for Iran far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days.” Many targets remain, but the most difficult and lethal were destroyed in the June 21 strike. If peace does not come quickly, then according to the President, “We will go after those other targets with precision, speed, and skill.”
President Trump concluded his statements with the words, “We love you, God, and we love our great military. Protect them. God bless the Middle East. God bless Israel. And God bless America! Thank you very much.”
As Christians consider the gravity of the United States entering the Israel-Iranian conflict, our response must be guided first and foremost by the Gospel. In a time of escalating violence and uncertainty, our witness matters. We must not be swept up by fear, but instead stand firm in the hope of the Gospel, remembering that Christ is our ultimate peace and salvation. We can also have full confidence that God will protect His chosen people, the nation of Israel, and defend them from all their enemies. As the Lord told Abraham long ago, “I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you; and all the families of the earth will be blessed through you” (BSB).
As Christian citizens, we have a responsibility to pray for our leaders, to advocate for righteousness and mercy, and to proclaim the good news of salvation in both words and actions. War should grieve us, for it reflects the brokenness of a world in rebellion against God. In all things, we must keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, trusting Him to work even through the darkest of circumstances to accomplish His sovereign will.
Pray ever for the peace of Israel, and that Lord will receive glory even throughout this time of trouble.
