LOXAHATCHEE, FLORIDA – Lion Country Safari is a destination that never fails to inspire me with awe and wonder. As someone who has visited multiple times, I can confidently say that this park is a testament to the creativity and majesty of God. Whether you’re an animal lover, a family seeking a memorable day out, or someone who enjoys experiencing the beauty of nature up close, Lion Country Safari offers an incredible adventure.
What sets Lion Country Safari apart from other zoos is its drive-through safari experience. Visitors can enjoy the rare opportunity to observe animals from the comfort of their vehicles, creating a personal and immersive journey through various animal habitats. Each zone represents a different part of the world, showcasing animals from Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
The lion habitat is a particular highlight. These magnificent creatures live in a spacious enclosure that allows them to roam and thrive. Visitors can drive all the way around the enclosure and observe the lions safely from their vehicles. Seeing their strength and grace up close is a powerful reminder of Proverbs 30:30, which describes the lion as “mighty among beasts, who retreats before nothing.”
In addition to lions, visitors can expect to see zebras, giraffes, rhinos, ostriches, and countless others wandering the grounds. The giraffes, with their towering height and gentle demeanor, are a family favorite. Guests can even hand feed them in the walking section of the Safari, but during the driving section the rules are quite clear. For the safety of both guests and animals, vehicle doors and windows must remain closed at all times.
The park also features a large bird sanctuary and playful chimpanzees, who never fail to entertain with their antics. For families with young children (or for those just young at heart), the petting zoo and small animal encounters provide a hands-on experience. Kids can feed goats and interact with other gentle creatures, fostering a love for God’s creation.
Admission to Lion Country Safari is reasonably priced, with tickets costing around $40–$50 per person. Discounts are often available for online purchases, Florida residents, military families, and even school groups, making it an affordable option for many. The value of the experience — spending hours exploring the Lord’s creativity in the animal kingdom — far outweighs the moderate cost.
Beyond the animals, Lion Country Safari offers a walking park with splash pads, mini-golf, paddle boats, and a variety of dining options. When my family is in town, we always enjoys having a meal at the park’s Table 67 Cafe, but there are also several other eating options. The walking park also includes opportunities to learn about conservation efforts and the role humans play as stewards of God’s creation. It’s a wonderful teaching moment for families to discuss how we can care for the earth and all living creatures as outlined in Genesis 1:28.
Every visit to Lion Country Safari reminds me of the intricate design of our Creator. The animals, each with their unique traits and beauty, point to the glory of God. Psalm 104:24 captures it perfectly: “How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom, you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.”
If you’re looking for a family-friendly activity that combines fun, education, and an opportunity to marvel at God’s handiwork, I wholeheartedly recommend Lion Country Safari. It’s a place where memories are made and faith is deepened through the wonder of creation.
