Given the state of our world, and the constant barrage of bad news we receive every day, it is hardly surprising that so many despair. Even so, we must never forget that this broken world is just a passing thing, and there is an infinite stream of good news heading our way when finally Christ Jesus sits enthroned on the Earth. So, just for fun, I decided to imagine what the media headlines will look like when that day finally comes (assuming the media even still exists that is):
- Today King Jesus implemented a new program. Everyone thought it was brilliant! What an amazing God we serve!
- Now on to the weather…perfect and sunny across the whole planet. There’s snow in Alaska, but it is staying off the roads.
- In world news, the Middle East is now celebrating two centuries of absolute peace.
- In health, absolutely no one died today, and it has been centuries since anyone has had so much as the sniffles.
- In sports, as always the games were close, and the winning players were humble as they received their awards.
- We’ll continue to keep you up to the minute on the details of this amazing world we live in. Good night!
I’m definitely ready for headlines like this! And we know most assuredly they will happen for as it is written:
For to us a child is born,
Isaiah 9:6-7 ESV
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and of peace
there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.”
