I have been enthralled of late with the books of 1 and 2 Chronicles from the Old Testament. I am currently doing a read through the Bible in a year plan, but I am already five days ahead because I cannot get enough of these books. I have loved reading about the few faithful kings of Judah like Jehoshaphat and Josiah, but what I have loved even more is reading about the wicked king like Manasseh who, after being disciplined by the Lord, humbled himself and turned back to God. During my studies, I was reminded that despite the discord surrounding the upcoming presidential elections, God can still change the hearts of our candidates and our nation like he did with the kings of Judah. We must pray without ceasing for our leaders and our nation. It was actually in 2 Chronicles where the Lord told King Solomon:
[If]…My people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.“
2 Chronicles 7:14 – NASB
Perhaps one day we as the American people might turn wholeheartedly back to the Lord and be under a leader that truly loves Him and seeks His ways. Even so, I am A-Okay if the real leader of this world, the Lord Jesus Christ, would like to return anytime now.
